Society

Since our main business, infrastructure development, is able to contribute to society because of its public and social nature, our social contribution activities revolve around our business itself. For example, after the Great East Japan Earthquake and Kumamoto Earthquakes, PDT Group engaged in various relief activities while working on restoration and reconstruction projects.

Human Resources

Diversity

Chodai, a constituent company of the People, Dreams & Technologies Group, has established the "7C Project," a group consisting of all of the company’s female employees, designed to foster an environment in which women are comfortable and able to perform at their best. This group is working to put in place new systems to improve corporate culture and the workplace environment. In the future, we plan to expand these activities throughout the entire People, Dreams & Technologies Group.

Acquisition of Platinum Kurumin Certification

In August 2020, Chodai, a member of the People, Dreams & Technologies Group, acquired Platinum Kurumin certification from the Tokyo Labor Bureau as a company providing excellent childcare support for its employees. Having met the special criteria for Platinum Kurumin Certification based on the Law for Measures to Support the Development of the Next Generation, Chodai’s achievements under the 5th Action Plan (October 1, 2017, to September 30, 2019) were highly evaluated. We will continue to actively promote measures to enable employees raising children to balance work and parenting through the reform of working styles.

Work Style Reform

We will continue to advance the work style reform and create a conducive workplace where employees who give birth or raise children can balance work and parenting.

Work–Life Balance

We have set up the "Kakehashi Nursery," which is to be operated in cooperation with two other companies in the same industry. It is intended as a child care assistance program and one solution to an increasing number of children on the waiting list for nurseries.

Labor Practices

In order to create a workplace environment where all employees are motivated to perform to the best of their ability,
We strive to promote work-life balance and full mental and physical health.

Social Contribution Activities

Restoration Project

While conducting emergency survey and analysis, as part of its business, Chodai gathered survey engineers from across Japan and delivered relief goods to the affected areas, using its group network after the Heavy Rain Event of July 2018.

Next-generation upbringing

Craft classes to teach children the enjoyment of civil engineering
Hiroshima Branch (Chodai) organized craft classes for local elementary school students to construct bridges out of paper, hoping that they would develop an interest in infrastructure around them and become civil engineers in the future.

Environmental conservation activities, with local children participating
Aiming to make the surrounding project areas green and to preserve the precious ecological system for future generations, we conducted environmental conservation activities in the forms of workshops and tree-planting projects in collaboration with elementary, middle, and high schools or contractors in local communities.

Overseas Support

We have introduced composting toilet systems that have been developed in Japan in countries and regions with poor aquatic and hygienic environments. These systems are now contributing to the environmental improvement of emerging and developing countries, including Vietnam.
